Hydrochlorothiazide Description
Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a class of chemicals known as thiazide diuretics. These chemicals work by inhibiting the sodium-chloride symporter (NCC), which is responsible for the reabsorption of sodium back into the bloodstream. By inhibiting this transporter, sodium reabsorption is reduced, thereby decreasing the amount of extracellular fluid in the body.
