Furosemide Description
Furosemide belongs to a class of chemicals known as loop diuretics. These chemicals work by inhibiting the Na+-K+-2Cl- cotransporter (NKCC2), which prevents the reabsorption of sodium back into the bloodstream. This decrease in sodium reabsorption reduces the amount of extracellular fluid in the body.
