3, 5-Diiodo-L-Thyronine (T2) Description
T2 is an endogenous thyroid hormone metabolite which exerts thyromimetic effects on the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid-axis, body composition, and metabolic rate. When accounting for differences in the binding affinity of T2 and T3, T2 has been shown to elicit a more rapid rise in energy metabolism. Research further shows that T2 may be more effective at reducing fat mass than other thyroid hormones, due to greater increases in beta-oxidation and the inhibition of lipogenesis.
